I bought this from someone as a Crenicichla Xingu 1 (Orange Pike), but it isn't showing any of the juvenile orange coloring...just a few spots. It's probably about 1.5" long. Not sure how to post pics larger, but you can click on them I think...

Deff isent a "french fry" pike. ^^

Looks like one of the dwarf species. Mabye regani.

Good luck with the little guy or girl. :)

Is this the pike that is supposed to be a year old? Something looks off with the head and with the huge eyes, I think it might be stunted or have a defect. Others know more and hopefully they will chime in.

This could possibly be a teleocichla

It sure is. I was hoping for the best when I picked him up, knowing he didn't look like what I came for. But at least I rescued him/her from the conditions it was in.

Teleocichla centrarchus makes more sense. The shorter snout and large eyes, with the black spots along the back make it a close match.

I currently have 4 crenicichla regani, and none of them resemble the images presented by the OP, even the smaller females. Hopefully we can get some more knowledgeable creni addicts to look at the species of your fish.
