yep, they start to overflow, my wife asks what the extra water noise is and we change them lol. I kind of use it as an indicator. With 100 micron I can go about 5-7 days before I have to change them but the cool thing is even when they overflow the pond boxes attached to the pumps have sponges in them as well so no dirt can get back into the tank

Here's mine.
cool two that looks a like. Were did ya get the Large filter pads. Have you ever tryed Foam like out of a couch?
As an idea, I have seen very fine sock or pad material at wallmart you could probably make a very large sock to go all the way across the tank to both inlets so it would take longer to clog.
