About to do an airport pickup in a few weks and Ive never done it before. Talked to a few people already but wanted more experiences, stories, and general words of advice from people who have done this.

VENDORS - Please add something to this thread, it will only help your sales as people like myself are often hesitant to make such transactions.:)

gr8, all you do is go to the cargo pickup at ur nearby airport, give them the flight number and your id, they do the rest and give you your package. its super simple. if it aint already paid for, you jus gotta pay right then n there. done

IMO vendor should tell you what day it's being shipped/then confirm on that day it was shipped via airbill number of course via what airline. The airbill # makes picking it up alot easier and almost might be a neccasity. You can also track it with that awb number online via the airline and find out where it is and when it's arrived.

Other tips:
I've heard it takes around 1 hour 1/2 or so for a plane to unload so allow time for that.

Also Cargo people are bound to not know what package they're looking for when you give them the awb number so allow time for them to find it. In which time you'll probably start looking yourself through the cargo since you know what it's supposed to look like better than them.

Don't forget to pay. Sometimes the airlines forget to ask but they'll hunt you down like the mob if you forget usually feeling stupid at the end. But we're all human.

Also might be helpful to make sure you have ID, pretty sure they asked me for it.

I just walk in and say my name and give the person my airbill number.... I either pay them then for the shipment if it wasn't prepayed or just grab my box and go.... its easy just depends on how much of an *#$%* is behind the counter just make sure you go to the cargo area

Also wanted to say when it's all said and done I prefer a/p to a/p vs. overnight shipping. Feel way safer when they're only packaged for hours.

I would give my answer, but everyone has already answered it to the "t". It is very easy.

I will add this. Open the box at the Cargo station and Report DOA's to the Cargo Company. It makes it easier for the Vendor or yourself to file a claim. Some Airline companies will not let you file a claim if you do not report it right when you get it.

FYI: Delta is a 2 hour unload time.

Eveything has allready been covered, Just call ahead to make sure flight is on schedule and give a good hour after the plain lands for it to be available for pickup. Some airlines say they need 3 hrs just tell them this is live fish and 3 hrs is not exceptable and they will comply.

Thanks all...

So far ive heard that Sac. is a great place to pick. Anybody ever pickup in Oakland?
