I have a coral cat shark , and right now im kinda stumped on what to do , that tank is a custom 130 , and hes the only animal in the tank. i know there bellies are soft and can rash up pretty easily , but what i dont get is , all the pictures that i am seeing on google of the shark , they are laying or around sharp rocks and sand ,
now my question is . . . im scared everytime he goes near live rock. will it be okay if the live rock is in there or should i take it out, i honestly don't need this animal dieing on me cause of rocks ,
theres hardly any sand in the tank and thats fine sand to, his belly isn't red just sometimes when the lights are one his stomach gets a brownish color i think its stress,
i have 3 good size pieces of rock that id love to work with, but i dont want him to cut him self ! please help!

I don't really think the rocks are much of a problem, however, I think your problem is the tank size. With that size tank, you won't even be able to house the shark properly for a year. Sharks like LOTS of swimming room...some people would even argue that a 450g isn't even big enough to house the shark long term.

i know , its pretty much my quarantine tank , i have a 3000g pond in my basement :P

Why is it in your quarantine tank then? Would love to see that 3000g pond!

well the pond is just empty right now i have the wood border around it and thats about it i just need a good steady job at the moment, the shark is still small tho , just i wanna know if i could add a little more live rock to the 130 , he will prolly be in the tank till next summer . just so i know hes healthy and theres no problems when i add him to the 3000g

the rock will not be a issue, you need to keep the rock to a bare minimum and give the shark as much swimming space as possible, what fitration as you using ?

IME coral cats spend most of the day hiding, so they need rock. The size of your tank is inadequate at this point - at night these are very active sharks, and he's going to suffer an injury eventually. I'd get that pond running ASAP if I were you.
