Please sex my N. Venustus and i need help

I have found a beautiful N. Venustus in the LFS store.. about 5 inches with deep blue color coming into the face region.. is this an indication of a male? And the LFS wanted $45 for the fish..is this a pretty good price.. and then my other question is what sex does this one appear to be? Thanks

Blue in the face is a sign of a male. I don't see any blue in the pic so I'm thinking female but perhaps a young male??? What size is it? The females retain the juvie coloring. $45 seems a bit steep but if it floats your boat then what the hay, its only money

Thanks so i know the one at the LFS is a male because his face has a royal blue coloring{beautiful} and yes as long as it is a decent price and not a rip off.. a little steep is okay.. high end of steep is not.. this one in picture is about 3 inches..maybe too young to tell yet..thanks !!!!

It is definitly not holding ..it has been in quarenteen for two months in its own little tank ..but it may look like that because it is stressed since i just moved it in to the 55gal with other africans unless it has a problem with its mouth for some reason..i will keep an eye on it since i noticed the lips {mouth} looked a little weird to me.. every day it ate like crazy.. everything i offered and excited ....but this am he suddenly did not want to eat..so i just thought i may have over fed..well now i better really keep an eye on this fish..although i cannot amagine what it could have done to the mouth.. any idea??

for this area anyway. We can get 3" ones for about $10 here.

Even for pretty big guy..may even be 6 inches.. if i don't get him i will just wait and try and find a mate for this one.. the only thing is it gets tough to find the larger sizes..thanks for your advise!
