I know there has been many threads similar to this in the past but the last one seems to be 5-6 years ago (according to the search bar anyway) and many people's stock has changed over the years.

My Congo blacks and gold head comps. Gold head is a little camera shy, turns dark once he sees my camera (picture 2). Netted pictures were from when I first got them, in tank shots are more recent.

Sumbu shells are definitely on my list of comps to acquire. Hard as hell to find available around these parts.

Thank you! Yeah they were very difficult to find. I was able to find a source for wild caught though and they were actually pretty reasonably priced so I kind of went overboard on them a little. lol
I have 6m/10fm spread throughout three 33g long tanks. They spawn constantly but I haven't started collecting any fry from them yet.



The collection points/areas that are home to the sumbu comps in the wild are located in a protected park that prohibits fishing and the collecting of several different species except under special permit. (and most likely illegal harvesting)
There weren't many people breeding them for quite awhile either but they seem to be making a comeback as I've seen several sources for F1 and tank raised specimens around the last few months.
