Hi guys, I've got a 125gallon tank which is about 24" high and 72" wide. It came with 2 35" wide light fixtures, each with a single 24" 8000k 17watt flourescent bulb.
I'm about to start planting the tank with some pretty easy going plants(anubias, java fern, etc) and was hoping you guys could suggest the correct lighting for my situation. Should I stick with what I've got? It's not putting out a whole lot of light and the bulbs aren't even spanning my entire tank. The bulbs only actually span 48" of the 70" wide tank.

So, what do you guys think? I know my lighting needs aren't huge, but I want my plants to grow well and I want good looking light. Thanks for any thoughts =)

not sure what kind of bulb, but i know petsmart or a local petstore or lfs should have the bulbs for plants.

Yeah, and I've pretty much decided to get a new lighting system since this one doesn't span the whole tank and there's dead spots of light. Just a matter of finding what's right for me, though

Just about any light will work for those plants, what fish are you putting in? I'd focus on a light that best shows off the fish considering the type of plants you're using.

It's going to have an oscar, maybe an ebjd, and some other standard fish I haven't chosen yet. They shouldn't really care what light I use.

Yeah I just saw that on their website. I need to see what it looks like on much larger tank though. Also, it appears to be ceiling mountable, which is awesome.

Yeah unless its too bright they wont care but you do want to install lighting that will show off the fish the best, that's were wattage and color temp plays a part.
