Yeah unless its too bright they wont care but you do want to install lighting that will show off the fish the best, that's were wattage and color temp plays a part.

Would you be able to recommend a good wattage/color temp for me? I was thinking I'd go with either 8000k or 10000k but I don't really know the differences.

10,000K will be a great all-around color temp for your fish & plants. The pinkish lamps are also a good boost in certain spectrums for the plants. As far as wattage, I would say 1 watt/gallon is a good general rule for your situation. **NO. I'm not interested in having the wpg debate here. These are low-light plants, so keep it to yourself people.** I would also get a fixture as close to 72" long as you can, but make sure the length of the actual lamp tubes is 24" or 48" & not some goofy size, or else your options will be severely limited in wattage/brand/color temp/etc...

Well I talked to a guy from fishneedit and the only way to mount one of their lights on my tank(because it is so long) would be two of them side by side suspended from the ceiling. Are all t5 HO lamps mounted the same way? I see none that simply sit on top of a glass lid
