Pleco aggression

I would add a few things. (1) Yes, hiding spots are good, but you should add additional current if possible. Since they like current, they will hide in the driftwood near a filter/powerhead intake/out-take. What good is a pile of driftwood at the opposite corner of the tank if the plecos are all congregated elsewhere near driftwood with high water movement?

(2) other fish (like cichlids) (a) Supposedly some large plecos like to feed/suck on the slime of fish like discus, though I've seen videos of people keeping plecos with discus and sting-rays. If you have valuable fish, may want separate tanks for them. (b) If you do have cichlids like discus, and feed lots of beef heart, that could be problematic for some types of plecos. Obviously a meat heavy diet is not good for wood eaters like royals, but too much beef heart could cause problems for carnivorous small hyphans like P. compacta (L134).

This is exactly where my plecos hang out. The 2 smaller pieces of wood are over by the 2 power heads. Interesting, thanks. :)

Madness, it sounds as if you have too many plecos on your hands. I know this guy (me) who lives right down the road from you that will gladly help you. :grinyes:

Oh I dont have to many, (exactly the opposite, not enough) I just have a couple of bullies that dont play well with others.
