Pleco and ?

Where you live? Lol
I have an Arowana I am dying to get rid of lol

Personally, for a "wet pet" fish, I'd get something aggressive that will attack you through the glass as well as beg for food. Amphilophus species like the midas cichlid would be a good choice. Plenty of less common CA cichlids that would work, like: tetracanthus, istlanum, motaguense, lyonsi, plenty more. I would see what you have available to you and do research on them. Most of these fish won't bother a pleco, especially if you keep them together from a smaller size and grow them up together.

Looking through those, I really like the greenish/blue version of the Istlanum. Would a male Istlanum be ok with the Pleco? I'm having a hard time finding the answer of that through google

How about a paratilapia polleni? They aren't too hard to find. Mine is probably one of my favorite fish.

He is pretty cool looking, how active are they?

Haha, someday. I was watching the King of DIYs tutorial on building a plywood tank this morning. I'm thinking that's my next project and it will be over the course of a year or so, then Ill have a tank that could hold it haha

WOuld be tough to google, the answer is "probably". I have an istlanum I am growing out right now, and he has proven to be a real vicious S.O.B. Ripped the face off a livebearer, so now he is alone. Granted, this is in a 20 gallon, and I am going to try a pleco and more dither fish with him when he has a bigger tank.
I kept a large specimen years ago, it was a green morph, about 7-8" long. That one was fine with other large tankmates, kept it with various cichlids, a large bichir, and a catfish, in a 125 gallon with no problem for years.
Basically, I think in a large enough tank (yours qualifies IMO), it's doable, just depends on the istlanum. I would get a few juveniles and grow them up with the pleco. The personality on these fish is great, lots of attitude in a pretty package.

What kind of personality do they have (other than mean haha)? I really enjoy the look of this fish

Dude it's a 4 ft tank

I wouldn't sell it to him. I was just joking.
Mine is in a 6ft tank right now and I am going to sell him to old friend.
I am not a monster I just like monsters :P

Mine begs for food every time I come into the room. Not shy, never hides, always out and in your face. When I sit for a while and he loses interest in me, he is constantly picking at the plants and rocks around the tank. He likes to dig all the sand out from under his log and pile it in one spot. Pretty typical cichlid stuff, but for a Solo fish, that's the type of personality I'd look for.

What do you know about the motaguense? That one is rather striking to me as well

I have not kept mota's, though they are on my wishlist. From what I have read, I believe the info I gave you about istlanum would apply to a motaguense as well. Nasty, good fish to keep alone or in a pair, lots of personality.
