I looked up some info in brown algae, and with your info i will try a few things before putting in a pleco and hoping he knows how to rope-a-dope.
To respond to some of your questions.
My nitrite and nitrate levels are normal, i did not test for phosphate. I clean my tank on a regular base. I have a brand new canopy with the original lights in them.
So, from what i read on a few sites... Not enough natural lighting might be the cause. So, i will look into buying new neon tubes. Something that is closer to the natural sun light spectrum.
