Pleco care

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My plecs never did as well with gravel. It traps debris (no matter how much you think you're removing) and plecs just don't do as well overall with it as they are kissing those gravel areas much of the time as they scurry about (esp fancy delicate ones like gn's)..just saying from my experience & regardless of what your nitrates might be telling you.. gd luck

This week I cleared away most of it and there are a bunch of bare areas now. Will switch over to sand as son as I change the fx6 out for the 2262

Gold Nuggets tend to be very picky other than grazing on aufwuchs also known as biofilm. Tetra Color Tropical Granules is the only food my gold nuggets will eat ....give that a try ..... and don't worry, once they get hungry enough... they will eat. And don't lose the hiding places, they need that to feel secure. gOOD LUCK.

"And don't lose the hiding places"...This must be a response to me saying to "limit hiding places". Does it all mean the same by your English?

If you feel like you need to for peace of mind, then go for it. I would use just a half dose though with the gn and see how he reacts. If he starts to breath heavy and moving around abnormally, I would start an immediate big wc. Just monitor him during the process. Don't have much experience with that med, so not sure of what else to recommend here

Just saw the gp doing this !!! I just fed the others a few minutes pass and he started sifting. I guess hes eating food particles.

Also may have eaten some algaemax.
