pleco code L-???

does any1 on here know about the pleco naming system. Each pleco seems to have a number such as L-001, or L-222 ?>what gives?
did whoever identify and name all the plecos out there just start his/her own system. im guessing his/her name started with an L.
oh yea and how many of the plecos out there are hybrids?
i know there are pleco fans on here so educate me on this matter.
my roomate bought this pleco a while back which was differant from all of the others in the tank.i pretty sure he posted pics of it and no one could i.d. it. anyways im out payce
trying to find a cheap zebra pleco.sum1 should hook me up.i live in HI
