It's a common issue when plecos start fighting. They heal quickly (a couple of days) as long as they are healthy and the water conditions are good.

But expect to see it more as many plecos get quite territorial as they get bigger, and who knows what they get up to at night when you aren't watching. Most of them have some sort of defensive (or offensive) spines on the sides of their heads and will bash each other when they fight.

bit of salt does wonders. I did a 20 % 40 % water change with extra salt for a week after I put in the new wood/cave/hide-out and distrubuted the veggies in 4 or 3 different places instead of only two. Now the hurt pleco is fine, I saw today all pleco's were out, both of the common plec were showing off their fins (competing for a piece of wafer) and yes, no more rupture. But one thing I know: NO more new extra pleco's, I have already quite a lot and although the tank is big, I'd prefer them to have more space and be a bit more harmonious.

my plecos fin never healed until i took him out of my midas tank...........

but he was healthy and getting fat,, i figured the torture from the midas had to stop
