Hi I was wondering about having a pleco for my 70 gallon tank. I want a quite unusual pleco but I will be having cichlids in this tank. These are the tank dimensions are 120 40 55 cm. thanks in advance

I'm haven't set tank up yet but I will be having firemouth, green terror and maybe salvini and I will be having a pictus

Cichlids and plecos get along fine. I would suggest atleast a couple of plecos so that the pleco wont be alone. Also make sure there are plenty of hiding places for plecos and plenty of oxygen. Keep cichlids well fed so they don't get grumpy.

It would all depend on the personalities of the Firemouth and Green Terror. I've seen some GT's that are calm and relax but others live up to there title and are terrors in the tank. Firemouth's normally aren't that bad. I would think with a GT your best bet is getting a big pleco to start off with versus getting a small one. Only problem is the only big pleco's commonly available are the common pleco (Pterygoplichthys pardalis, P. disjunctivus, P. gibbiceps, Hypostomus plecostomus) and they all get big with exception to the Hypostomus which maxes out at about a foot.

Take a look on here http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/numbers.php?mode=l&thumbs=16 and see what you like and then get with us and maybe we could help you out a bit more.

This is not always the case. Cichlids are a huge group of fish some can be housed with pleco's others can not just do to there nasty dispositions. Also not all cichlids personalities match there species guidelines which we go by. You could get an oscar which won't hurt a pleco or you could end up with one that will harass it to death. Also not all pleco's should be kept in group due to territorial disputes between themselves.
