Pleco for a planted 55g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the responses.

There are a few that don't eat plants, right? Royal farlowellas don't seem to eat plants from my experience.

I have considered otos, but I'm not a huge fan of them. I'm really looking for something on the fancier side. Plus, I have an adult angelfish that may eat them.

I like the idea of the gold nugget though. I will look into the hypancistrus too. For now my backups are an albino male BN, or a royal farlowella.

Do some homework dude. If you don't feed plecos much, they'll turn to plants. It was a very justified question.

So, if you need to hear more... The guy I bought my ABNs has them in all his planted tanks (11). So it's not just mine. They don't eat plants if they're fed properly.

Umm to assume I don't know these fish is foolish. To assume I starve(d) my fish is incredibly foolish.
Do I have to post pictures of my stock to stop the assumptions? Or do I need a cool avatar?
Trust me no bread and butter crap in my tanks dude!

Your questions IS a result of assumption. Probably because of the low post count my profile holds. This is the problem with forums.
Post count does not equal knowledge! That's a fact.

I did not say it was just yours. Don't put words on my finger tips lol

My bad for comparing the common house hold tank bred bread and butter BN to WC l-182's. I was just stuck on the common name BN thats all. I'm only human.
I agree with you that the tank bred, bread and butter BN's you see being sold by many people are kept in planted tanks with no problems. You are correct and again my bad.

From my experience with the trio I had of L-182 that were 8". Was destruction of all plants. They were consumed and uprooted all the time. Regardless of what was being fed to them. I always had a chunk of carrot or zucchini in there for them but it did not stop them.

Pomatomus- Farlowellas are great with planted tank. I know a breeder on our Canadian pleco site keeps all types of Loricaria with plants as well.
