probably otocinclus catfish. i would get a couple since i think they school

Other than otos, which aren't plecos, and do better in planted, well establised tanks, there really aren't any.Even the small plecos have a big bio load,so unless it is the only fish in the tank,I wouldn't.

ok then i was just thinking that the smaller plecos might of had an acceptable bioload but i guess most plecos are like cows always creating some bioload.

A clown pleco would be fine. And there are a few species of pleco that maxes at around 4" that would be fine for a 10gal.

I agree as long as the tank is overfiltered, understocked(other than the pleco), and you do weekly tank maintenence.

you could get away with a clown pleco, bulldog pleco (also called a Rubbernose pleco) or a bristlenose pleco . . .

your temps might be a bit high for the bulldog, and bristlenose might be the biggest of the three, so I'd vote for clown pleco

in reality, a 10G is too small for these fish to really thrive, but it could work; a 20G would probably be a better minimum size . . .

since your in ca i would look into a bigger tank. they are cheap in the west coast. wish i was there.

Otos are Loricariidae and therefore ARE plecos. There are many types of smaller Loricariidae suitable for a 10 gallon tank such as some smaller Ancistrus, some Chaetostoma species, most harttia species, all Hisonotus species, all Hypoptopoma species, all Nannoptopoma species, some of the Oligancistrus species, Otocinclus species, Parotocinclus species, the list goes on and on, Here is a helpful link with pics and info on all the plec species
