So I am looking into a pleco of some sort to add to my 120 with a breedingpair of GT's. I have these little clear white looking things almost looks like i tiny flower, all over my glass. I don't want a common pleco for the fact of how large they get and the amount of waist. Any suggestions on a pleco that will max out about 9inches maybe smaller that would work well in this tank?

I just got an albino bristle nose pleco....max out at around 5in. I've read that they're great community fish and they love algae...couldn't give you the perfect review on them seeing as though mine has been in the tank for a total of 20min so far but my tank is covered in algae and he's going to town eating it all right up.

From what you are describing it sounds like you have hydra in your tank: http://www.marchak.ca/aquarium/20050831/IMG_2930.JPG

If so I don't know if bristlenose plecos will eat them.

However, I just recently got three albino BN plecos and they certainly love their algae. One managed to clean my 10g QT tank that was completely covered in algae in about 48hrs.

I recommend a BN as well. Great little algae eaters.

Aren't BN a little fragile for a tank with breeding GT? You're looking at two fish over 6 inches that are aggressively protecting their young in a tank with something on its own under 5 inches?

I'd recommend going with one of the larger specialty plecos like a chocolate or a royal. I have a rhino who's 10 inches and she's big enough to discourage aggression towards her.

At the same time, I have a hard working little bulldog in the same tank and he does a great job with the glass without getting eaten by my dwarf pike.

OP wanted something around 9 inches. Royals and Rhinos get quite a bit bigger than that, though I do agree with you in part.

You could always provide a hiding spot for the plec, pvc, caves etc.

Sailfins, or Gibbys get pretty big. Up to 18 inches I think, probably bigger. If you don't want a common, then you don't want a Gibby.

BN would do the best job. Just pray your GTs don't see it as a threat.

No kidding. Keep a close watch on it for its sake. Do you have a backup tank to move it to in case they decide to kill off the invader?
