Hi this may seem like a stupid question but he it goes. I bought a pleco to help with some algae in my tank but then started feeding her cucumber. Is it ok to not feed her anything for a day or 2 to see if she will eat the algae or should I not mess with her new feeding habits

Ime when a pleco starts eating preparing food they are spoiled and will never go back. That being said you should change from cucumber to zucchini. Cucumber has very little nutritional value compared to other veggies. In fact if I was you I would try a variety of veggies.

Algae wafers are a good idea too. Plecos will graze on some algae, but from what I understand, they need a lot more than that to sustain them. As with other fish, variety is a good way to ensure proper nutrition. Good luck!
