I have my royals with manzanita and mopani. They seem to like it just fine, it's a bit harder than malayasian stuff so it should last longer.

My clown plec (yeah, not a royal but its still a Panaque) munches on any wood i have in my tank... heck, i dunno what kind i have except for one piece of mopani thats been in there for so long, its soft.
