Pleco in a 5 gallon?

Haha wow. Well my girl DOES NOT want anything bigger than a 5 gallon. And i told her that sucker fish cant live in her 5 gallon. So shes fine with that and she going to stick with her otos

man, how do you "hate" on otos? they are so harmless ... but they are also really your best choice ...

maybe just get a snail ...

Another suggestion which would involve searching is a LDA025. They almost seem like a cross between an otto and a small pleco. They get just a tiny bit bigger then an otto but look like a pleco. I had one similar to it and it never grew past an inch and a half.

A 3 inch pleco in a 5 gallon with weekly water changes of 25% will be fine in a 5 for life. Trust me have been doing this hobby for 40 years and it will be fine.

I kept a bristlenose and a rubberlip at separate times in a 5g, both for a few months. Mostly for quarantine purposes but I eventually moved them though when they got a little bit larger. Water parameters stayed good.

Sure i started my Common Plecostomus in a 5 Gallon and he was fine..but i upgraded since its bad to put one in a small tank for permanent terms..but if you want a small Plecostomus you can never go wrong with a Bristlenose Plecostomus since they get like 4-5" and keep the tank spotless..but you could also add a Betta..

I am going to say a britlenose pleco may be ok in there.

Wow, youre so overstocked and underfiltered. They need at least a 4000 gallon tank with a million times turnover rate for filtration along with 300% daily w/c's. Make sure to treat with prime and you'll be gold!

You forgot the 12 hours of actual real sunlight and constant diet of live macrofauna.

I would always advise not to put a pleco in a such a small tank unless you have a bigger one to move them into (which you do) as they can grow pretty fast,obviously it all depends on the fish lol. I know alot of people who have bought plecos for small tanks and they have had to take them back because they have outgrown the tanks so quickly.But since you have a bigger tank it could go into I agree with what most people on here are saying as long as you keep up with gravel cleans and w/c it should be ok.
