I got my 75 gallon tank that has been running none stop for 12 years for free from someone who wanted to get rid of it.

where do u live?

Sounds like you didn't think ahead of time. I'm 15 years old and would never want to have all this on my shoulders to find a tank for a pleco. You should have bought like two chinese/siamese algae eaters, they work fine and get like 3 inches. Also if you can't find anything just go out and buy a 30 gallon plastic tub for temporary use.

You gotta birthday coming up could always ask for it then. If not post an add on the bulletin boards at your local grocery store and craigslist for mowing yards but make sure to get your parents permission first. I did that when I was your age did three yards a week took about three hours made thirty bucks. You can EARN that tank in about a month or less.

there are all kinds of cheap tanks on CL IN CT
tell your parents buying a new one doesn't make sense

i do tell them this but they don't want to drive anywhere far or confront with other people. The only place that they will take me is to petco
no lfs around
i sometimes get to go to this lfs on the way to my cousins house but they have no reasonably priced tanks for sale

Vriginia getting the free 75 gallon tank was a freak story in that I got it when I was in my first year of high school. The old 75 gallon tank had four prevous owners before me and it had nearly been thrown out two times before during it's life but now it has been in service at my house for over 12 years.

If you would like to go after a 75 gallon tank or a 125 gallon tank we have a thing in our area called the Local Trading post it's a speical type of news paper that posts nothing but selling adds for people who want to sell things and the prices can sometimes be very high or very low. What you need to do is find someone in the neighborhood who has a good sized tank and needs to move out of their house fast or is having a baby and they will give you their tank so that you and some freinds can remove it out of there house.

If you live up north the people there are more willing to sell larger tanks at cheaper prices in that in in my area the people try to plug top dollar out of things that are junk. Also there seems to be more giant fish tanks in coastal cities vs inland towns for some reason.

Right now in Petersburg Vriginia there is a 220 gallon tank for $450 dollars.

Lol you were selling notecards and paperclips for .01 cents... doesn't ebay charge a fee? and your losing money?

eBay used to shut auctions like that down.. I'm guessing they don't anymore...

Just out of curiosity, why did you buy a pleco that will outgrow your tank? A nice little bristlenose will never outgrow it, and they clean a tank like nothing I've ever seen...
