I understand plecos are nocturnal and I leave my light off every night so mine can swim around, come out of hiding and eat. I know that some animals that are nocturnal cannot see certain light spectrums like deep reds or blue. Can I maybe place either a dark red or dark blue light in my tank that the pleco won't see and still think it's night time? Does any place sell such a light? Thanks.

I made myself one and wired it in. I could make you a blue or red one, pm me for details.

is there one I could place under water?

No it goes underneath your hood light and I put in a switched, it turns on like a regular light. Mine is red and makes the whole tank red, pretty cool.
