Pleco not growing?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is what i meant. It is like koi under a sheet of ice.
They aren't supposed to, but I guess they will in lower temps. Really a fish that goes dorment I'd just one that can survive lower temps, since temperature affects metabolism.

I have moved him into the upper 40 gallon that i got going today. It is heated to about 83 degrees Fahrenheit. He is swimming around more, but I still have not seen him eat.

He has not eaten the algae wafers. They are sitting there disintegrating. I tried to remove them, but a lot is still there. Also, i noticed a small hole in his dorsal fin. How can i get him to eat? He pooped a lot in the upper 40 and his poop looks fine.

The heater is a 150 watt and it seems like it is always on but the opposite side of the tanks only stays at 76 degrees. Should i turn it up to max?

From what I've seen a 150w heats a max of 40-55 gallons. I would go ahead and set it to max. If it gets above 82, turn it down a little. You want it to be 79-82, which will increase the Pleco's metabolism. This will make it want to eat more.

I will, but it says on the heater that it will get it up to 94 degrees. It is a marina heater.
