i have a tiger shovelnose and it is bout 5". my pleco will not stop going over the top of it.
is that becuase it is eating the coating off of my shovelnose???

what species. Is it sucking or just swimming over it? If it is, i'd seperate the two immediately.

i am not sure what species it is but i do think it is sucking on it...will that really hurt the cat???

If it is actually sucking on the slime coating, then your TSN may be at risk of death. Watch the two closely. Things can change in a matter of hours.

yes. it'll suck the slime coat off and cause stress to the fish. very able to kill your cat.

ok i will be sure to keep a close eye on the two...bye the way the picture of my cat is to the left. (very small)...

How big is the cat? Because if there is a large size difference (pleco being smaller) then effects may not be as blatently obvious, but if you get a plec that starts doing it, most, if not all the time (my experience) it won't stop doing it, until they are split up. Then have to be careful what to put that pleco with, because it might think another tankmate is a good snack. It doesnt sound too bad at the moment though

well the pleco is much larger than the cat, he is about 8 in. the cat being about 5 in. i also noticed that my cat is starting to lay on the bottom with his tail curling...any suggestions about that???

if i do decide to get rid of my pleco, i will still want to get some kind of fish to help keep the tank clean... do u know of anything that will not hurt the cat and can live with a jack dempsey.
