hey i am not sure if anyone has ever had this problem but i think my plecos are fighting.....i have never had this happen before but recently i just introduced a Raphael catfish to my tank and the only other fish in the tank is a pair of 1.5in severums and the tank is a 60 gallon i dont understand what is going on. Are they fightingbecause there are two of them in there, are they fighting because of the the Raphael addition, or is it the Raphael the one causein all the problems....I need some help will seperating them into my other tanks and just getting a larger pleco and haveing that one in my 60 gallon fix the problem??

Plecos do fight for territory. It also depends on which plecos you have, and how many hiding places there are for the plecs to choose from. How big are the plecos?
I had two dwarf plecs, Panaque's, in a 29 gallon tank. There was plenty of hiding places, but they would chase each other when they ran into each other.
What makes you think they're fighting? Split fins? Body damage?
At the moment, I have a Synodontis and a Sailfin pleco. The Syno chases the plec sometimes. I believe it's because they both require the same type of shelter, and so argue over their favorite shelter of the moment.

Some questions to ask you..

1. What kind of pleco?? Any pictures?

2. are u offering any hiding place like driftwood cave like places?

Most likely... ur tank is too small if they are big pleco... or if they are small.. then u might have a carnivorous pleco vs. a omnivorous pleco.

What kind of plecos are they? What is the footprint of the tank? Do you have plenty of caves? Are they doing damage to one another? Did the fighting start after you added the rapheal?

I am far from an expert but due to your obvious lack of knowledge and concern for your own fish you have shown elsewhere on this site I do not believe you are in the position to give advice to anyone. Please keep your nonsense to your own threads. Your lack of knowledge could cost someone a fish. As far as I'm concerned you just crossed the line. How can you give advice about plecos when you just started a thread asking how big plecos get? We dont even know what types of plecos the OP has. You need to be banned before you cost someone their pets.

To the original poster: I apologize for derailing your thread but this child has a reputation on this site.

To everyone else: I said it. It's done. please dont derail any further for the OP's sake.

it could be a hiding spot problem.
i had a raphael in with my plecs (common, gibb and white tail) and never had a problem, but they had loads of hiding places....come to think of it i never really saw my raphael lol

p.s.
cheers wingate, fair point.
