wavemakers and/or powerheads to circulate all that bottom debris off the tank floor and into the filter. My larger Pleco can have a string of poop that spans the length of my tank and then some. 5-6 ft of poop string, lol
I have a wavemaker in my tank to push the poop to one side of the tank and it's working okay. I remember when I had my Gibby that sucker was able to give off long poops but none of my Panaque's seem to have that talent. The longest poop I've seen is from my Watermelon and it was maybe 3" long but super thick like a bit thicker then the erasers that come with the mechanical led pencils.
I had two AC 110's on my 135 at one point and I only had 2 Panaque's who made the biggest mess and those filter would need cleaning every week or the sponges would begin to float. That's why I had sold my previous Panaque's and switched to sponge filters. AC's started over flowing. The AC did keep up with my Gibby's though and I had 2 L001's at one point along with a Rhino, 2 Weberi's and a single albino Gibby. Just cleaned them out bi weekly.
Do you regret saving that Pleco or does it make you think about getting more? To think I use to not care for pleco's one bit. I started off with one now I got like 16.
my largest pleco is a common at 20" including the tail my Rhino is 12-13", it's the worst offender for huge poops, the smallest pleco in my 240 is 8" Gold spotted sailfin. I run 2000 GPH of flow through the filtration set up on the tank, I have the return from the sump on one end blowing all the crap either out the overflows or to the far corner of the tank.
