Pleco with cloudy eyes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for calling it a "rant." I was trying to help. I was speaking from my own experience. I'm done here. I want to help, and believe I have the power to, but will not be belittled, just because you're behind a computer. Good luck to your fish.

The pleco looks very sick but i doubt someone will tell u the water is not good unless it really was.. if your tank is properly cycled do a nice water change for a couple days BTW dont clean the filter pads just yet as you may be cleaing benefical bacteria as well because you have a small tank.. try to upgrade to a 3 foot tank your fish will apprecaite but good luck..

OK, so a 10 gal tank is very small for this type of pleco. In justonemoretank's defense, I worked at PETCO and the "Fish Specialist" was not me and was some guy who never owned a fish tank before. They sue strip tests (very bad to reference) and that is how they test the sample waters. You should get your own test kits, test the water. And then go from there. I would get him in a larger tank, maybe a 55g or a 65g tank ideally. Perform regular water changes, and I would not use medication unless he gets really sick. Just keep the water clean and get a nice big filter on there.

Good luck. Any news on him, I know this post is old. Just saw it online and wanted to chime in since there was some hostility and some neg. reviews about PETCO (which are correct, the thimble thing is spot on, except you could fir the entire stores knowledge in a thimble IMO)
