Is that a frontosa in the background of your pic? How big is your tank? Do you have any panaques in that tank (I would presume you would have more poop problems with panaques)?

They love sand. Poop sitting on surface of sand is a plus, its better than sinking in between the gravel and pebbles. If you have proper circulation as stated, your filtration will rid of it. As you can see my sand is pretty clean and I have no problem whats so ever. I only do water changes once a week 50% and no siphoning of sand. My tank does have overflows and a sump.

Circulation is definitly key, no arguement there. I run HOB on my tank. 75 gallon tank with Pengiun biowheel 200 and AC 110, with one small powerhead inside the tank. I need another one but flow is decent.
