Do you think its safe to put my 4" royal pleco in my 180gallon(7x2x2) tank with a couple jags, and a red tiger mota?

Depends on the size of the cichlids, but probably O.K. On a side note, how big is your red tiger and is it a male or female?

Not exactly sure but i believe its a male, the chichlids will be around 7" or so depending on how big they are when i catch them. If i get a breeding pair i move them into a 112 gallon.

what should i look for on my mota to see if its male or female?

Not many fish will bother a big plec.

do remember that royals are slow growers.

this one ahs grown actully pretty faster compared to my other one, about 3" in 6 months. but still non the less slow. I will have alota drift wood for it to hide on if that helps

be fine as long as it doesn't get lost
seriously though, might want to make sure it can feed, it's a big tank for it, and you'll want to make sure it isn't out competed and can find its food. It'll probably do just fine though.
