Here is a picture to show why it is not advisable to keep them together.

I has a similar incident some years back that kill my female B.bichir. I kept them together for 4 years and nothing happen. I do not when the pleco suddenly aquire taste on the body slime of the bichir and it sucked dried the body slime and torture the B.bichir to death as shown in the picture.
I would of gottten rid of the pleco.

a few years ago a friend gave me a small rare kind of pleco that live in his community tank with out sucking on other fish, but the minute i put it in with my senegalus went after them, so i decided to return that little bastard the next day.

i dont tihink its a good idea

Thats nasty, think il have to have a rethink for my tank now,

ive got a 13" L101 joselamis(spelling?) in the tank that im planning on putting my ornate in.

cheers steve

I guess by the sounds of things it depends on the fish so when hes ready to go in il keep a close eye on things.

cheers steve

I keep a L90 with two palmas pollii and a ornatipinnis, and I don't have problems. I've keep also two Peckoltia sp. Tiger and two Chaetostoma milesi, and there wasn't problems...

The problem may not surface now or it may never surface, but as a precautionally measure, it is not advisable. My pleco lived with my bichirs for a 4 year time before it show problem when it grows larger. When it shows symptoms, do remove pleco from the tank.

The B.bichir was still alive, but dying, when that picture was taken.

i think you should give it a try and see what happens. i have a gold nugget living with my ornate and although he is quiet small nothing has happened yet. the gn is very shy and only comes out a feeding time. anyway, try it and if you see the plec chasing the ornate or anything then just take it out.

my large common leaves my little senegal alone

I had an Albino Sen that was with a Green Phantom Pleco and a Vampire Pleco. Nothing happened. As long as you keep your plecos well fed, they should be fine.
