O, well i guess im gona say nvm on the discuss/pleco tank..

Guess, i'll grow out my 2 royal plecos, some clown loaches maybe 15, and a couple dats.

i wouldnt give up on it... just if you plan on breeding both, i think they need different conditions so dont know if you would manage it with these plecos... then again i dont keep or breed discus, so i could be wrong, but think they have higher temps?

the tank would look great with plecos and discus. but I could see a few problems, first being that discus need ultra-clean water and plecos make ultra-dirty water. second being that some plecos think discus look like algae wafers....:WHOA: just hope for a pleco that behaves himself.
so if those aren't a problem for you then go for it!

i have an incredibly overstocked discus/fancy pleco tank. Just a moving situation type thing and i had to do it or get rid of my fish.

I do a 25% every other day and feed high protien. The plecs will suck on the discus in the night, discus kind of zonk out to sleep and dont realize whats happening. It has caused minor damage, nothing serious but i do have the most carnivorous of plecs.

It is really up to you. With respect to water chemistry, it makes some sense due to thier preference of low ph water for the most part. The tank is full of wood with no substrate. your discus will get damaged so its not completely advisable.

That is one of the funniest discriptions I have heard for a discus!

All I have to say about that is WHERE ARE THE PICTURES! I have seen several, and heard of several setups with discus and plecs, but as stated not advisable. I also don't think it would be good for a breeding setup, to mix the two.

i have seen it with the smaller vegetarian based plecos though, but not for breeding.

oh i totally agree, for breeding it completely doesnt make sense. Plecs will love to eat the discus eggs and discus would love to eat plec fry.

The only reason i dont want to post pics is because i know i will get alot of haters telling me im overcrowding my tank. Its a 72 bow with 10 various sized discus and i dont even want to tell you how many plecs there are in there. :) Although those arent optimal conditions, they have been there for 3 months now, and are still growing fast and eating great. That tank has made the most fish adverse people want to put a big tank in thier living room.

Well as long as you stay up on WC and have enough filtration for all of them, then there shouldn't be any problem.

Yea, i dont think i can keep up with a tank like that. My tank is 84 constantly so discuss would be nice, But i will just grow out monsters thanks though guys. Maybe in the future :)

many people "overstock" their tanks. as long as the fish are free to swim and the conditions are optimum. i'd love to see some pics of the plecos
