Hey everyone, just wanted to know people's experiences keeping some of the fancy plecos in high pH tanks.
I would like to know if there are any tips towards acclimation

Thank You!

How high we talking?
I keep several different species , my water comes out of the tap at about 7.8 to 8 and settles at about 7.4 to7.6
I’ve not had any problems.

I've seen plenty of Pseudacanithus specimens and a few examples of the common bristlenose pleco kept in 7.4 to 8.0 for a few years with no visible long term effects.

I keep Shellie’s in ph 9 with BNP for algae consumption.

Me too with Africans and BNP but I don't think they qualify as fancy. I would customize the tank parameters and tank mates to the fancy plecos.

This Pleco was caught here in Panama (probably doesn't qualify as fancy either), the pH of the river it was caught in was 8.2 (dry season) drops to 7or lower in the rainy season.

I keep various fancies in high ph in rock hard tap for years with no issues. Only use RO to breed

Here's a pic of a Gold Nugget Pleco I kept for several years. He's grazing on a Limestone rock. The PH stays at a constant 8.2 in my tanks.

Depends what your type of fancy is really.

In my area we have about 7.8 ph and fairly hard water and I’ve seen the following so well in our water

green or blue phantoms
Peppermints
Zebras
King tigers
Leopard frogs
And of the ansistrious sp. (I might have spelled that incorrectly)
Queen arabesque
3 beacons
Sunshines
Snowballs
Cactus plecos
Gold nuggets

the list goes on. These are ones I’ve personally seen. I also used common names instead of the L numbers bc I cannot remember all the L numbers for all
Of these guys haha
