Even though the odontodes can cut you, I still think it is far better to avoid holding the plecs by the head alone. Holding the lower portion and the head will get a decent picture.

your prob right. i don't generally hold my fish though, minus a few that dont mind being pet occasionally
Many of my fish like to come up and rub against me, or sit in my hand in the case of certain ex plecs.
