plecos with cichlids???

I had a brown algae problem in my 20gal tetra tank, it was super thick on my rocks, plants, and I was cleaning it off my glass almost daily. I threw a dozen MTS into the tank and they got it under control in no time.

My 55gal Mbuna tank also has a healthy population of MTS and a 5 inch sailfin Pleco that get along fine with the cichlids and keep the algae under control.

Depends how tough the pleco is. My little L200 would headbutt my 12" Pearsei cichlid when i he tried to come near his squash.

i have a 9 inch pleco and he doesnt let anything grow at all, that fish is on the job 24/7, i did not purchase him for that purpose i just like them and he ended up a serious cleaner. Maintenance is always needed but he helps a bunch in my situation and his tank mates dont bother him at all accept an occasional nudge by my jaguar.

I've found green algae comes from too much light, brown algae comes from the substrate needing a good clean out with a vac.

I have a small BN pleco that has been eating the brown algae on the gravel in one of my tanks. For what it's worth.
