When young yes, but my 16" pair is not fussy at all.
 
mine seem to be coming along nicely and fattened up abit, i love them there just great, mine eat prawns and blood worm just nicely
 
Pleuros are quite sensative when young juvies. i have heard that unstable temp. flucuations can be drastic, since they require all season long tropical climate (80-84 F)
But as tropheus said, they are quite "Bulletproof" after reaching 10"+ range.
