Ok after I wroe that I googled acrylic and your right that's some good info. now the question is when you buy plexi from a hardware store like an ace or home depot are they selling the cheeper extruded or are the selling the cast? Or would they carry both and you have to ask for the cast b/c it's more expensive?
b/c I know if I call anywhere about cell cast acrylic around here I am going to get. Ummmm.....Idk what that is. lol
Plexi-glass warps, and does not work with aquariums IME. Cast acrylic is what is used for aquariums usually.
I went to a couple of places today looking for sheets of acrlyic but to no avail they either didn't have what I wanted in stock of they wanted like ALOT for a 4'x8' sheet (it was 1/4" plexi for 168 a sheet) That price just dosen't seem right If it really is the expensive then why would II want to build my own if costs are not considerably lower then buying from the factory?
either way I still will end up having to buy some within a couple of months I think and that's going to suck big time. And I have to get the 1/4" so whatever is left I can build something else usefull out of and the tops won't seem week.
