Go to lowes or homedepot and get a 1/10 of an inch sheet of clear plexiglass. Bring your inside measurements with you and they will cut it for you. The next step is to draw a grid with a sharpie on top of the protective film to use a guide. Use 1 inch spacing for the grid. Then take a small drill bit but large enough to let water flow through and drill the holes through the plexiglass, if it starts cracking the bit is too big.

To hold the divider in place, use 4 suction cups per side to hold the divider in place.

better yet... use a dremel. the high speed will melt the plastic and prevent cracking. 1/4" is no problem at all! My trick on where to drill... lay it on top of eggcrate and dot with a sharpie at every intersection!

That sounds like alot of work! Lowes and Home Depot have a plastic grid with 1/2" wide square holes and is 1/2" thick for about $10 for a 2'x4'. I agree about the suction cups though...

what are they called just plastic grids?

or if you want to do it the plexiglass way, very carefully put it in your oven and heat it up a bit, just needs to be warm, do not pre-heat the oven, just keep checking it till you can flex it pretty easy by hand and then drill the holes and it won't crack. the gird is called plastic eggcrate, the have it in a few places in lowes.
