Calling the experts, please help me identify my stingray. Is this one a marble motoro? tnx very much!

not really, just said its a motoro ray from south america. I was hoping that it would eventually become a marbled, she is about 18" in diameter.

At 18" Id assume itd be clear if she was a typical 'marble' Either way, she looks good and is no normal motoro!

Get her a marbled mate and see how the pups turn out!

It could be part marble. I have read about people having breeding pairs of one marble and one normal motoro.

Looks Motoro x Otorongo to me...

look at the spotting on the tail and pelvic fins.. smaller orange dots inside the ocellates, but not interfering with the pattern of the ocellates (no marbling)..

and 18" with that powerfully built tail, definitely makes me think Castexi involved because although Motoros get large like that, having Castexi in the bloodline would probably speed and maximize growth..

Is it a super aggressive eater yet?

Notice the ocellated spots on the pelvic fins of the Motoro, in comparison to the orange dots on a Castexi..

I was thinking the same thing when I first say it.... I have owned both and agree with everything you had to say.... Otorongo are very aggressive eaters...., more so than any other ray that I have encountered.... I always wondered what this mix would look like...., and maybe this is it!!
