I mean simple so I that anyone can found outside and the regular manure that is sold in plant shopHold up.
Manure? Garden soil? What’s the brand of the soil and do you mean regular manure?
Thanks for information dudeI just use regular 'garden soil' from my local plant nursery and I cap it with about 1.5-2" of sand to make sure the soil doesn't leak into the water collumn.Don't try with fish that dig they'll end up wrecking your tank lol
It will if you are keeping plants and not keeping fish! Will the regular manure mixed with garden soil work ?
It is called the ''Walstad'' method of keeping planted tanks. Some people swear by it, others think it's all BS. I have never tried it but I've been thinking about trying it in an 18G cube that I have right now.It will if you are keeping plants and not keeping fish!
Garden soil I find too “thin” so it just muddies the water and “manure” tends to come from horses or cattle so is grass based and floats.
For Amazon sword think more clay based substrate, maybe 50 / 50 soft clay mixed with gravel 1” thick then covered with at least 2” of fine gravel. This kind of thing you can do in areas of the tank where you have swords or vallis, and not all over.
However, planting more plants into it or digging fish can cause cloudy water and I do mean cloudy water taking days to settle so be warned.
From what I am reading, I think that the OP meant planting soil when he said ''manure''.Not sure Walstad method would include the manure, surely that’s adding nitrates and phosphates which is back to front of Walstad. Is that method not more about plants and fish in harmony at the correct levels so not requiring additional fertiliser?

When you say natural sunlight are you placing those tanks in direct sunlight or are they on a patio exposed to partial sun?View attachment 1456126
The one above is growing in only sand, no ferts, no CO2, and only natural sunlight. I never vac near it, allowing mulm to build up
Wne I first got it, it was put in a darker tank, and didn't do well, overtaken by quickly spreading vallisneria roots, so moved closer to the surface rooted in a log.

The tank also had to be treated for ick (3ppt salinity) so it melted back.
Once moved to the more suitable sunlit tank (about 3 months ago) , it has started to look much better, and perk up.
