thanks ive been waiting on my q tank my ex has it. it is a 20 gallon. i really need it quick before my entire stock is at risk i really dont want to treat a 265 gallon tank very pricey.
In most cases, it is. This is indeed bacterial infection. What are your water parameters? Usually, with more water changes, the problem itself is corrected.
I have and allways will treat infections with antibiotics. Alot of people will not use them for some reason. But antibiotics have saved many fish for me. And if a human being gets a infection and goes to the dictor, guess what they get--antibiotics.I would treat the little guy with maracyn and maracyn2 at the same time along with salt for stress. But only use antibiotics in a hospital tank cause they will kill the bacteria that is harming your fish the same way they will kill your beneficial bacteria. i allways treat fin rot for 7-10 days and do water changes every other day. With this treatment he should bounce back with in a week.
You will have to use water changes to keep the ammonia in check. That is why most people do not keep a hospital tank up and running at all times. Cause everytime you use it with meds, you have to start over. i would not worry about stablity from a hospiatl tank. That is why i was saying to do those water changes every other day. To remove the ammonia. I also use a water conditioner like prime in a hospital tank cause it take care of the left over ammonia after the WC.
