Maybe I'm blind but that fish has no spots so I'll go with ocellaris...

:iagree: My 2 Ocellaris does not have spots. (3") I would say thats fish is a tem

Definatley a temensis.

to me it just looks like an american smallmouth bass but then again you guys probably know better than me. But when I was a kid we caught lil guys like that in big bait nets at the dock in the hillsborough river out here in florida. looks very similar.

Hard to tell because of the pic quality. It seems like a monoculus, or ocellaris. Does not look like a juvenile temensis. Juvenile temensis does not have the horizontal stripe, only a vertical stripe.

Does this fish have two light stripes above and below the black one? Some of the WC juvie temensis I saw had the spots joined in a stripe... Anyway, looks like a temensis to me. Here's a pic of the Cichla temensis I had some time ago:

Best regards.

Daniel.

Edit: Didn't checked the link Danny posted previously... Same pic I sent to Aquahobby. ;)

I've been having trouble IDing mine too. His patter changes between 3 fat virtical bars and a single horizontal stripe. Can anyone clarify?
