Plugging up decoration holes

Hot glue. 10minutes - done.

Fill the cavity with sand, or dirt or whatever. Sand works well. THen hot-glue all openings shut to seal off the dirt from your tank. I did this to a resin root decoration also. 2 years later it's still perfect.

just stuff it with filter floss.. way easier than gluing it.. and maybe you can get some beneficial bacteria out of it...

Although I can easily do all of the things the other guy's said, that sounds like a really good, and even simpler, idea.
