Plumbing Problems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Either wrong type of glue or you did your 1/4 turn after the glue started the weld or you let up on the pressure to early. Heavy duty will take longer to weld and needs to be held under pressure longer or the pipe will back out when you let go of it.

I don't do a quarter turn and dont have a problem with my house plumbing that is set at 65 PSI. I cut, scuff, prime, glue, and hold then move on to the next fitting or segment.

I use medium (black oatey can) for white pvc and cpvc cement for cpvc. With CPVC I hold the joint tight for 30 seconds and for the medium glue I hold it tight for 60 seconds.

Well.....here goes.......

Cut out all of the old plumbing and started from scratch.

I left the return plumbing at 1.5" rather than reducing.

I completely re-did the plumbing, today, based on some very good advice (Thanks Chompers) and the water test goes tomorrow.

Wish me luck. :headbang2

Success!

Finally!

It ain't pretty but there are no leaks other than one small trickle from the threads on my pump. Easy fix.

I might get fish in this da**ed thing yet. :naughty:

Make sure you clean/prime the fitting and the pipe and glue both the fitting and the pipe then insert together. I turn the fittings and pipe slowly with little pressure untill they won't turn any more. Usullay 1/4 turn or so like you did.

edit: I see you got it to work.

I am thinking that the original return plumbing (3/4") may not have been able to handle the pumps output (Reeflo Snapper).

Combine that with me being "the world's worst plumber ", apparently, and we have a whole lot of leaks.

Since my last thread I have discovered that as long as I run the pump at full throttle I am fine but the minute I throttle it back I have leaks in my drain line now. Just one more thing to redo......if I don't give up and post a "For Sale" thread in the meantime.

I gotta say going through one problem after another has a way of sapping all the fun out of this hobby.:irked:
