Pluming a fish room

If the 300 is going to be on the same system, you should consider using 1/2 inch valves instead of the one inch valves. The reason is in the adjustment of the valves. The one inch valves were going to have to all be closed down halfway, and then some (you will have less than 45 degrees of adjustment in the handle). In half inch valves you will have 90 degrees.

The one inch valves will still work. Getting it all adjusted will be tricky though.

I'll go ahead and order the 1/2" valves. I want to get some other stuff anyway.

What kind of turnover did you want in the 300g? Or did you want to split the flow even percentage wise?

Basically, I want to split it evenly, but I might end up shorting the 125 a bit to allow for a little more turnover on the bigger stuff. In all, the turnover will not necessarily be that important as long as the tanks are staying reasonably clean. Of course I don't want to be pushing fish around either.

Now I'm really lost.

What did you mean by "shortening the 125"? Are you replacing the 300 with a 125?
