No.

But if you listen to me your tank will probably fall apart.

Lol, thanks for the advice. I was going to use angel steel from home depot but its 14bucks for 4ft. plus i have no access to a welder.

I don't know that I would run the threaded rod the length of the tank. I don't think the ends are going anywhere. The main issue I would think is bowing of the long sides. I would have a couple or three braces across the top of the tank.

Maybe I'm missing what you are trying to accomplish with the threaded rods?

yes that is correct, i planned on having 3 braces along the top. you think 3/4"plywood and 2x4s is enough to stop bowing?

I'd recommend the three braces evenly spread on the top. Fit in between the sides and fasten with screws through the sides into the ends of the braces, AFTER the glass is in!!

you mean braces going front to back or left to right?

Front to back, to keep the front and back from flexing out. Particularly the front which will have your glass and relatively little plywood. The pressure is equally distributed in the tank so the longer spans will tend to bend more. Say you had two 1/2" diameter sticks. One that is 4 feet long will be alot more easy to bend than one that is 4 inches long.

ok that makes sense, so i really dont need to worry about it bowing out on the sides... just the front and back. would a brace in the bottom of the tank be needed also?
