Can anyone tell me information about how to remove glass from a plywood aquarium! I'm replacing a broken piece of glass with a plywood side panel! Cause somehow the glass had a stress fracture in it and cracked! Now I'm going with a plywood side panel instead! But I have to remove the old glass and silicone so I can sand it and move to installING the plywood side into it! Anyone know of an easier way then a putty knive to cut the silicone? I already have some of it cut but the sides are hard to cut cause there really close to the front and back? Please someone help me come up with an easier way!

Can you post a pic, where do you live? I do autoglass for a living so we have some specialty tools that may work, really depends on how thick the silicone is and the gap between the glass and wood.

I'm in southern California and yes I'll take a picture! Tonight and post it for you

I was thinking that a feeler Guage might help me cut between the really tight spots maybe? I've seen some youtube guy doing it and looks like there pretty strong pieces of metal that might just do the trick! I'm not doing any chemical stuff cause I'm planning on using this tank again!

Here's a picture of my sad glass crack and around the edges hope that helps you help me!!

The last picture is what I was trying to use which is 65 pound test fishing line doubled up to make more strength! Then I'm just using it like a saw cutting the edges but I cant seem to get it into the corners at all its just stopping at the edges where I cant force it into the right angels

I have both top and bottom all cut all the way to about 2 inches from each corner just can't get my putty knive or fishing line to seem to want to bite on the corners keeps busting off

Nope don't want a glass piece going to plywood it instead changed my mind on that side it'll will give my fish more security from the side door of my garage!

Do you have a harbor freight near by? They sell auto glass wire cut out kit with handles that would work better. My phone is not loading the pics well so I'll be able to see better when I get home. If the bottom and top are cut put one end of the wire between the glass and wood and the top and bottom and saw action it from the inside
