I am hoping to build a tank I found something that I like to use for a sealing the tank. Polyurea I is sopose to be stronger than epoxy with a fexabilaty anyone tried this before?

Sounds like a neat product! Do you have to do any surface preparation as far as joints or corner strengthening? Only thing that would hold me back would be cost. Don't get me wrong it seems like it is a strong product but I could build 2 of my current builds at the cost of just that spray on liner.

Polyester & epoxy resins are different. Polyester resin fully cures and is strong. Stronger still when used with fiberglass chop mat. The more layers you apply, the stronger the aquarium will be. Polyester resins aren't suitable for long term water submerssion. Epoxy resin is different in that it is suitable for watet submerssion or containment. Epoxy resins is also more expensive. Epoxy resin gets hard but it never really fully cures. It stays a little tacky, but hold water just fine. If you use a polyester based resin to build your aquarium, you can use an epoxy top coat as a sealer. You can even use dyes in resin to change color.

I should mention also that polyester and epoxy resins use different hardners. It's application specific. If you use a polyester hardner with epoxy resin, it'll never cure, ever!

Yes polyurea is something different. It is like Rhino liner or Line-X. I was just doing some research on the product seems Line-X has a potable water safe coating called there Aquaurethane Extreme. Only drawback is silicone doesn't bond to it. So anything like the glass that will be bonded with silicone needs to be bonded first then polyurea sprayed over it.

Seems to be some pretty cool stuff. Watched a YouTube vid where they coated a cardboard box then filled it with water a few minutes later. Then sprayed some more coating on top of the water and was able to stand on it like a waterbed!

Sorry, wrong application. Thought you were asking bout fiberglass. No harm, no foul. I'm gonna watch that youtube vid though. Sounds interesting.

Yea that was my next question I was not sure if silicone would stick. There is a product called rock hard? For garage floors in a clear coat $120 at Menard does 200 sq Ft I believe

I saw that stuff. It says its "Low VOC" which is not the same as "NO VOC". You want a polyurea that has No VOC (volatile organic compounds)
