I've done alot of research on plywood tanks, but am still new to this. I've seen many people coat with epoxy paint and many use epoxy resin, do you have a preference?

I find epoxy paint is overall easier to use despite significant solvent odors. Generally more expensive due to the lower solids percent. But that's also what makes it flow out so well and is probably what allows it to waterproof at very thin dry mil thickness', so the cost differences are trivial.

But epoxy resin is better for wetting out fiberglass and has no solvent odor whatsoever. And some of the higher end epoxies are very easy to work with and can be thinned down to peform much like epoxy paint.

So I guess if I could work on a tank outdoors and didn't need any fiberglass I would strongly consider epoxy paint for the ease of application.

If the tank had to be sealed in an enclosed area and/or required fiberglass then I'd lean towards the pure resin.

Of course resin is probably the safe choice anyways since it can be both tinted and thinned down with solvent, not to mention thickned to radius interior edges.

Very good answer, I think thats part of the reason I chose resin, is the lack of odor, since I have to coat my tank in my garage, thanks so much.
