Plywood Tank Variation, Ballsy or foolhardy?

How about 3M 5200 marine adhesive? My LFS told me he has use it a couple of time to get him out of a jamb. I work with it everyday and it is very strong, but I don't know if it fish safe.

I would use Dow 732 or 832 most likely. I think I'll perform a quick test to see how well these stick to polyester.

Alright, fiberglass is curing. Gonna put 1 square inch of DOW 731 on a polyester coated piece of wood, stick it to a chunk of glass, use the wood to lift the glass and start piling weight on.

LOL. I've heard a lot of good things about it. Is that the Sikaflex stuff that will cure/stick/bond underwater? I think there is a 6200 as well that's a notch stronger. I dunno about the fish safe thing though, that's all. A co-worker of mine likes to say that "that stuff will glue snot to an icecube"

Owp, nevermind, I was on glue. Sikaflex is something else, similar product. And there is a 4200 and a 5200, the 5200 being stronger. My bad

If the test work out i say hell go for it, i think its an awsom idea , will look kick ass. keep the updates coming

Well, it's just another design idea to put in the file for when the right time presents itself (or the necessity presents itself!!) to break out of the minor leagues and build a real monster tank. Closer inspection of the 2, 2x6 sheets of 1/2" glass I have reveals that they are quite scratchy. The scratches aren't too bad, but they're bad enough that I'm definitely not going to design a whole tank around these windows. I'll reassemble the tank and sell it as originally planned, or if I find a 4x2x2 I'll build an intermediate all-glass monster tank from the pair (6x4x2 or 360gl).

Gonna go pull the tinfoil off my FG test peice now (hope it's cured, it's kinda cold out) and see what I'm dealing with.

Test Chunk Looks good. Well. It looks like **** because I did it quickly, but it looks like it will WORK. :D

I'll be waiting.....
